A warm welcome awaits you at Harrogate’s independent coffee shop and tea house. Bean & Bud combines quality ingredients with a passion for excellence, individuality and attention to detail to ensure that you get the very best cup of coffee or tea.
Owners Ruth and Hayden trained with expert barista Youri Vlag of Limini Coffee, and use Limini’s Yorkshire-roasted coffees for both their house blend and their changing programme of guest coffees. The full coffee menu includes Ristrettos and Piccolos, as well as the more familiar Cappuccinos and Lattes.
The extensive range of speciality teas includes Green, White, Oolong and fabulous Chinese display teas, which start as a hand stitched ball and open to reveal a stunning flower as well as a clean, refreshing flavour. These are all served in glass teapots so that you can watch your tea infuse and see the quality of the leaves and the variety of colours of tea ‘liquor’. There is also a range of loose leaf infusions including Peppermint, Chamomile and Fennel. Many of the teas and infusions are naturally low in caffeine and high in antioxidants.
All the loose leaf Black teas including English Breakfast, Ceylon and Darjeeling, the ‘champagne of teas’, are Fairtrade, sourced through Trumpers Teas. The English Breakfast is a blend of Assam, Ceylon and Kenyan teas. In her previous career at Cafédirect, Ruth visited some of the Kenyan growers whose high grade tea is included in the English Breakfast blend, and you can see her photographs of tea and tea picking on the walls.
Bean & Bud also offer a small selection of sandwiches, made fresh every morning using local cheeses and meats. The delicious, changing selection of cakes includes the stunning Mama Doreen’s cupcakes, and the scrummy Honeybuns range of gluten-free goodies.
